"How being a fan accidentally became a business"
Started as a K-pop fan who went to every concert and fan event in Melbourne. No camera, no plan — just there for the music.
A friend of mine runs a fansite and regularly buys event photos from other photographers. That's when I noticed the cycle — fansites need consistent coverage to keep their pages active, sell photobooks, and produce slogans. But flying to Melbourne for a single event? Not worth the cost.
So I picked up a camera and started shooting events myself. Posted a few sets online, and DMs started coming in from fan photographers who needed local coverage.
Now overseas fan photographers pay me to cover events they can't attend, and I sell the photos to those who need them. Going to concerts went from spending money to making it.
